Why Maintenance and Recovery was Developed
In 2019 my Boxer Killian developed IVDD. He was 11 years old. Surgery wasn’t an option due to his age, and NSAID use was the only option, and my Integrative vet wasn’t thrilled using it long term at his age. I needed another option.
Maintenance and Recovery was developed from my desperation to help my dog. I had spent 18 years in the vet industry and developed this to specifically handle nerve pain. My veterinarian approved the formula, and we gave it a go. It worked remarkably well that he no longer needed additional therapies. I bought the ingredients myself and dosed it to my dog. It wasn’t until my veterinarian said I should make this available for other pet parents as they too could use a product like this. I had no intention of bringing this to market, I just wanted to help my dog. It is a horrible feeling to watch your pet in pain. Then, everything changed. I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a motivational speaker talking about encouraging entrepreneurs to take the first step. I’ll never forget it. She said “Imagine all the people (pets in my case) that could have benefited but never will because you didn’t take that first step.” It stopped me immediately. This wasn’t about me. If this product could help other dogs the way it did Killian, then I needed to do whatever I could to make it happen.
It took researching companies and about a million quotes. I too am extremely particular about formulas, ingredients, sourcing ect… I found a great manufacturer in New York that was FDA registered, Gmp certified, all ingredients traceable and lot tested. They were not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. It took another year to get everything set and to even afford to produce the product as I funded everything myself. I did not want any investors to tell me how I can make something cheaper and cut corners. This was my baby and I saw it through by myself. Killian ended up passing away at 12 years old. I got another 9 months out of him with no pain. That was my win. He never got to see this come to fruition, but it was all because of him. He now lives on as my logo for Breed Genetics.

About Our Founder
Breed Genetics was founded out of necessity when founder, Erin Sullivan, needed a strong nerve relief product for her dog Killian, who suffered from IVDD. By combining 4 medicinal herbs at clinical levels, that addressed discomfort for not only joint, but nerve as well, Maintenance and Recovery was born.
Erin Sullivan started in the veterinary industry back in 1994. Over the past 18 years, she worked in veterinary practice, veterinary distribution and manufacturing as well as educating veterinarians on supplementation.
“I needed a product that would help Killian without long term NSAID use due to his age (12 years old). I was also disappointed in products already on the market. The big conglomerate companies that market pet products to the consumer and don’t put quality ingredients in or efficient amounts of ingredients to make any difference.”
Erin had a vision to improve the quality of life of each dog through innovation, transparency, quality and integrity. Every product is at clinical levels, human grade, natural (no synthetics), no animal proteins (due to allergies) and made in the USA. All products are made in an FDA registered facility, Gmp certified.
“My goal is to put the best products out there at an affordable price. I don’t want a great product that the majority cannot afford.”
Killian lived another year after diagnosis and was comfortable the entire time. This was done all for him but Erin knew it would help other dogs as well so Breed Genetics was created.
“The love between human and dog is unconditional. Killian was my heart and I knew I improved his life for the remaining time he had. He now lives on as my logo for Breed Genetics. “
Erin shares her home with 3 working dogs. 2 German Shepherds
